Welcome to the Tri-State Auto Rally Play By E-Mail
Division 30K Invitational!
All AADA rules apply, with the following exceptions:
Gates 1-6 will be in each corner and the top and
bottom middle. All gate assignments will
be chosen randomly.
Starting speeds for gates 1-6 will be any speed from
5 to 15 MPH. Vehicles will not suffer the effects of turbo-lag, if they
maintain full acceleration during the first second.
The Maul at the Mall II will be a duel in a parking
lot setting. There will be no points awarded during this event. The victor will
be the first player to park their car IN A PARKING SPACE (including the ¼ inch
grey area on either side), have a crew member exit the vehicle, and then get
into the mall on foot. The parking lot will be crowded, and the cars will pull
out of parking spots randomly. Shooting at peds is fair game. Shooting at other
players is expected, as that's the best way to get a good spot.
Dropped weapons are banned, and tire shots will be
prohibited during this event, unless a critical hit is rolled. Any time the
target number (after all modifiers) for a to hit roll is between 3 and 11; a
critical hit will be scored on a roll of a 12. If the target number is 2 or
less, a critical hit will be scored on an 11 or 12. Criticals cannot be scored
if you already need a 12 to hit. If you score a critical, you will be given the
option of hitting the side you targeted and doing the weapon's maximum damage,
or rolling damage on a tire that is in LOS (guards and hubs may still protect
as usual).
Only one crewmember needs to make it into the mall
for victory (vehicles are limited to 1 driver and 1 gunner), and the vehicle
must be in a parking space when you exit the car. Crewmembers may not exit a
disabled vehicle unless it is in a parking space. A vehicle will not be
considered in a space, unless it has at least 75% of its remaining wheels
within the boundaries of the space. If 2 or more adjacent spaces are open, a
vehicle may use them all. While this may make them a jerk, it is not illegal.
If a vehicle so chooses, it may park in a parking space, allow a crewmember to
exit, and then leave the space again.
Vehicles piloted by the referee will pull out of
parking spaces at a speed of 10 MPH, and will maintain that speed while
attempting to exit the lot through one of the exits at the far right of the
map. The drivers will begin the event inside the vehicle, and will not have to
walk to their vehicles. Vehicles may be armed with concealed weapons. They will
not attack, unless attacked first. They will make reasonable efforts to avoid
collisions, but do not have radio communications, and will not make deals. At
the end of each turn, a random number of vehicles will leave their parking
spots.
The mall is located to the west end of the parking lot.
Concrete filled metal poles (25 DP) prevent vehicles larger than a large cycle
from crashing through the doors. Opening a door counts as a firing action,
taken while adjacent to the door. The remainder of the west wall represents the
mall, and has 50 DP. If the mall wall is breached, pedestrians may enter
through the breach to achieve victory.
A curb (D2 hazard) surrounds the rest of the lot.
Immediately beyond the curb is the retaining wall of the parking lot, a 30 DP
wall. Driving thru the wall, voluntarily or involuntarily, is grounds for
disqualification.
In the world of 2051, there are no handicapped
parking spots. You may park in any parking spot you damn well please.
The AADA provision of scoring 80 pts and surviving
for 25 phases will not apply for Duel 12.
[Editor’s note: Any similarity between this event and
the Internet Dueling League’s Maul at the Mall 30K is completely on purpose.]
